About Us

Established in 2010, Small Town Theatrics is a community theater company based out of Coal City, Illinois. A non-for-profit organization, Small Town Theatrics produces theatrical performances that provide members of several local communities a chance to be involved in the arts. In the past, there have been limited opportunities for people to get involved in the theater and participate in something that can truly be a magical experience. Small Town Theatrics strives to give everyone an equal opportunity to become a part of something that is indescribable.

Mission Statement

To provide individuals, in these 'small towns,' with opportunities to showcase their talents, while exposing them to the diversity of the performing arts.

There’s something truly special about community theatre. It’s more than just a stage—it’s a place where creativity thrives, friendships are formed, and the arts come alive for audiences close to home.

Summer 2026 will mark our 16th season and since its inception the theatre company has provided an opportunity for 400-plus cast and crew members to showcase their talents on stage and behind the scenes. These individuals represent more than 24 communities in eight counties—Grundy, Will, Livingston, Kankakee, Kendall, Kane, Cook, and Lake.

Small Town Theatrics was established by Jack Micetich who had a vision to provide individuals in the area with an opportunity to showcase their talents, while exposing them to the diversity of the performing arts, thus enhancing their quality of life and that of those who come to see them perform. That first show in summer 2010 was just the beginning for Jack who has gone on to produce and direct over 40 community and school musicals and plays.

Every dollar raised goes directly into our productions. No one involved is paid. From the actors to the directors, it’s 100% volunteer. True community theatre.
